With patio season in full swing, we might as well take advantage while we can! I’m a huge patio person – always have been. But in Baton Rouge and South Louisiana in general, there are only a few weeks out of the year where you can enjoy being outdoors without melting, being eaten alive by mosquitos, or (in my case) end up looking like a sun-dried tomato. Thankfully now is the perfect time of year to get out and enjoy the weather, and what better way to do that than by having a drink or meal on a gorgeous patio?

But who has the best patio you ask? Well here are my top 5 picks along with many other awesome patios around town! Have any to add? Comment below or shoot me an email!

#1) Mid City Beer Garden – 3808 Government St

Hands-down my favorite patio in BR and it’s not hard to see why – there is plenty of seating both covered and not, and is packed full of fans and heaters for year-round patio enjoyment. It helps that their food is delicious and their drink/beer menu is great too!

#2) BLDG 5 – 2805 Kalurah St

Probably the newest establishment on this list, BLDG 5 is a cool hip spot to grab quick bites and take-home meals, or enjoy a cocktail and have an amazing meal.

#3) Velvet Cactus – 7655 Old Hammond Hwy

Amazing tacos, tasty margaritas, and a huge outdoor seating area surrounded by fountains and ponds – sounds like the perfect patio spot to me!

#4) Tsunami – 100 Lafayette St

If you’re looking for a spot downtown with amazing views of the river, then Tsunami is the place for you. Their huge patio with both a formal dining area and casual seating is perfect for dinner or just hanging out for a drink, or just watching the sunset.

#5) Curbside – 4158 Government St

Located on Government Street, Curbside is one of the best spots for yummy burgers and offers homemade condiments, shakes (adult versions available). Their patio is the perfect spot for enjoying their regular live music offerings or brunch!

Bin 77 – 10111 Perkins Rowe #160

Bin 77 has more of a courtyard area, but either way it’s the perfect place to grab a drink and enjoy some great food. Plus Perkins Rowe starts it’s Rock N Rowe concert series in the spring, which makes it a great spot to grab a drink before/after the show.

Overpass Merchant – 2904 Perkins Rd

Another pick in the Perkins Overpass area with a great patio and amazing food! The outside area of Overpass Merchant tends to fill up quickly when the weather is nice, so best get there early or grab a drink while you wait!

Superior Grill – 5435 Government St + 7333 Highland Rd

While there are two Superior Grill locations here in Baton Rouge, the patio at the Highland Rd location is definitely one I’ve frequented. It probably helps that it’s right across the street from my office!

The Chimes – 3357 Highland Rd + 10870 Coursey Blvd

Last year The Chimes by LSU’s campus completed it’s rooftop bar project, and what a bar it turned out to be! It’s the perfect place to hang out for happy hour or watch a game.

Bottle & Tap – 11445 Coursey Blvd

Zippy’s – 3155 Perkins Rd

Leola’s Cafe – 1857 Government St

Located at the back of The Market at Circa 1857, this little cafe is a great spot for an outdoor lunch or weekend brunch in the Mid City area!

Red Zepplin Pizza – 4395 Perkins Rd

For some of the best pizza in Baton Rouge, look no further than Red Zepplin! Their patio is also complete with sun shades and heaters for year-round enjoyment.

Los Reyes – 11333 Coursey Blvd

Los Reyes (formally Las Palmas) has an amazing patio complete with fountain and multi-colored string lights making it all a really cool place to grab a margarita and hang out.

If you’re more of a dog person than a people person, then The Bulldog is for you. There are outdoor TVs, so it’s even good for game day!

A popular spot for students, Caliente is a great place to grab some affordable and tasty food or a delicious margarita!
