#1 Use Time-Saving Cleaning Tools…
The mindset of “Work smarter, not harder” definitely applies to cleaning – anything and everything that can help me clean faster or more efficiently is gold in my book! Here are my 5 go-to favorites:
1) All Things Swiffer
I hate dusting and I hate sweeping. But sadly with 4 animals and black bedroom furniture (why did I do that to myself?), I constantly have to clean. So for quick cleans, instead of breaking out a rag and dusting spray and doing it the old-fashioned way (time-consuming), I use my Swiffer Duster.
And while I rely on my robo-vacuum to get the bulk of my floor clean, for small things I bring in the Swiffer Sweeper. It’s the best thing to pick up anything my robot vacuum might miss and for getting under furniture. But the best part? It only takes a few minutes to go around the house! Plus you can use it to easily dust your walls (yes, that’s a thing!), spot wet mop, or dust your air vents. And because it can double as a mop with their wet pads, it’s great for apartments or small spaces!
For all my eco-friendly friends, I love to use these washable microfiber pads!
2) Vacuum Robot
I honestly don’t know what I would do without my robo-vacuum! I bought my “off-brand” one during Prime Day two years ago and am SO GLAD I did. Don’t get me wrong – they’re on the expensive side (but not as expensive as some other popular name brands just fyi!), but worth every penny. I can just turn it on and let it do it’s thing while I’m working at home, cooking dinner, or taking care of some other cleaning task. It’s something I no longer have to think about or spend time doing.
Here’s the link to mine – it’s still going strong after two years and the laser-mapping feature is very cool!
3) A GOOD Vacuum
Thankfully our house is carpet-free, so I don’t use our upright vacuum much nowadays except to vacuum our area rug. But if you do have carpet in your home, a great vacuum is an absolute must! Most robo-vacuums don’t handle carpet very well (mine is pretty darn good though!), which means you’ll still need to vacuum semi-regularly to avoid having dirty carpets. But because we don’t have much of it in our house, I opted for a cheaper pet-friendly one to get the small job done.
4) Refillable Spray Mop
I 100% recommend my Libman Freedom Spray Mop, but this Amazon basics one works just as well! The pads are washable (more environmentally friendly than one-use pads), and I can use whatever cleaner I want. I don’t have to wring it out and I don’t need a bucket which makes mopping easy and mess-free! For me personally, I love it for quick cleaning or small spaces, but for the bulk of my floor cleaning, I use my steam mop (below).
5) Steam Mop
My steam mop is hands-down my most-used wedding gift! I don’t need soap or cleaning products to use it, it sanitizes as it cleans (great for households with pets), and the pads are washable which makes it the most eco-friendly cleaning tool. This one even has a detachable hand unit that allows you to steam more than just your floors – everything from grout lines to clothing!
#2 Make A Cleaning List….
If you’re anything like me, you get pretty overwhelmed with the sheer amount of cleaning that needs doing. Having a list or following a guide can help keep you focused and on track, in addition to making it easier to delegate tasks to the rest of the family!

#3 Break It Down…
Instead of trying to clean your entire home top to bottom in one weekend, break it up throughout the month or spend a day cleaning here and there. That way you can focus on one room at a time and be less overwhelmed and de-clutter as you go! Doesn’t that spark joy?
